Women's Volleyball

By Natalie Mathis

This year's Varsity Lady Vikings Volleyball team is currently 8 - 1 this season as of mid September. They have defeated every opposing team thrown their way, except for the undefeated East Surry. Last season, the team fell short in the State Playoffs, however are expected to advance further in ranking throughout the season.

The Vikings have really come together more as a team this year, to focus on doing the best they can on and off the court. The Captains include the four seniors, Abigayle Myers, Savannah Johnson, Olivia Rhodes, and Salem Adams. We have asked them what motivates them this season, Abbie Myers responded by saying “I’m driven to succeed this season because it is my last opportunity to prove myself on the court.” Savannah Johnson stated that her teammates motivate her and “the potential to go to the State Playoffs again this year because we fell short last season.” Olivia Rhodes responded by saying “I am very motivated to go to the State Playoffs this year, since it is my last year of playing.” These four seniors show so much spirit and determination this season, making sure the team goes out with a bang for their last year!
