Teacher Spotlight: February

By Allen M.

This month's Viking Voyage teacher of the month is Frank Gualteros, our new Spanish Teacher! And since Mr . Gualteros is a new teacher we asked him a few different questions!

Where are you from?
I am from Pereira. This is a small city from the coffee region of Colombia South America.

What made you come to the States, especially Wilkes County?
I came to the States because I applied to Participate Learning program and they selected me. This is a program to bring ambassador teachers to this country or order to show our culture. This is a great opportunity to improve my laboral and professional skills and I came to Wilkes county because I felt attracted by the nature and because this is a place of piece and tranquility.

What's life like back home?
Life in Colombia is good. People are very nice, beautiful places to visit, great food and many things to do. I shared time with my family and friends. I played a lot of soccer there. ( This is something I missed a lot).

What is your biggest pet peeve in the classroom?
The biggest peeve in my classroom is when students say that they can't do it and they give up without even trying

If animals could talk, which species would be the rudest of all?
If animals could talk, I could say Hippos would be the rudest ones, taking into consideration that they are the most Territorial and unpredictable animals in the world.
